Privacy policy

Third Eye Cinema Pty Ltd (ABN 49 695 746 359) runs this website and sells tickets for our screenings and events. This policy explains what we collect about you, why, who handles it, and your choices. We follow the Australian Privacy Principles.

Our address is 4-6 Beverley Rd, Cloverdale WA 6105.

What we collect

  • When you book: your name, email address and phone number, the tickets you buy, and whether each ticket was scanned at the door.
  • If you make an account: your email address, or your Google account if you sign in with Google, and the details you add, like your preferred venue.
  • Your email choices: which kinds of email you've agreed to, and when.
  • If you ask us to: "Notify me" requests for a film, waitlist places for a sold-out session, and private hire enquiries.
  • Loyalty: your progress towards rewards, and the rewards you've earned and used.
  • For security: your IP address, to limit repeated tries (such as wrong codes) and to record who made changes in our back office.
  • At our screenings: video of people arriving, which we film at the entrance for our promotional videos, and reviews of a film that people agree to record with us.

We don't collect card numbers. Payments go straight to Stripe.

Why we use it

  • To issue and check your tickets, send your receipts, and look after your bookings and account.
  • To send reminders before your session, and to tell you if a session changes or is cancelled.
  • To send news and new film emails, only if you've agreed, for each kind separately. Every one names us and has an unsubscribe link.
  • To keep the website safe and stop misuse.

We film at the entrance of our screenings for our promotional videos, and a sign there says so. If you'd rather not be filmed, tell a staff member. We record people's reviews of a film only with their permission.

Who handles it, and where

We use these services to run the website. Each handles your information only for us.

  • Google Cloud and Firebase: our database, files and sign-in, in Sydney. Google also handles sign-in with Google.
  • Vercel: the website itself, in Sydney.
  • Stripe: payments and saved cards. Stripe may process payments outside Australia.
  • Zoho: ticket and booking emails, from its Australian data centre.
  • Amazon Web Services: news and new film emails, in Sydney.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile: the check that stops automated bookings, which may run outside Australia.
  • YouTube and Vimeo: trailers, in YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode and Vimeo's do-not-track mode.

We don't share your details with anyone else. Producers of the films we screen see sales totals only, never names. A partner whose offer is a loyalty reward sees a voucher's code when you use it, not who you are.

If you signed up for news and updates from us before this website opened, you get our news emails. We don't add anyone to our emails from other people's lists.

Cookies

We use only the cookies the website needs to work:

  • to keep you signed in (tec_customer),
  • to hold your places while you book (tec_hold),
  • to remember the city or venue you chose (tec_venue),
  • and for staff, to keep them signed in (tec_session).

Stripe and Cloudflare set their own cookies for payment and the security check. We don't use analytics or advertising cookies.

Your browser also keeps a few small things on your device: the email you typed into "Notify me", the email a sign-in link was sent to (until you open it), and whether you've opened the home page's showcase.

How long we keep it

  • Bookings that were never paid for: 30 days.
  • Door scans, email records, answered "Notify me" requests and waitlist places that have ended: 90 days.
  • IP addresses in our records of staff and account changes: 90 days.
  • Private hire enquiries: 12 months.
  • Paid bookings, refunds and our records of changes: 7 years, as tax records. If you ask us to delete your details, your name, email and phone are taken out of them.

Your choices and rights

  • See your information: download a copy from your account, or ask us.
  • Delete it: delete your account from your account settings, or ask us. Your bookings stay as tax records without your details. Tickets for sessions still to come keep working.
  • Stop emails: use the unsubscribe link in any email, or your account's email settings.
  • Correct it: change your details in your account, or ask us.
  • Complain: contact us first. If you're not happy with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Loyalty programme changes

We may change or end the loyalty programme with 30 days' notice on this website. Rewards you've already earned keep their terms and dates.
