Dobchu is a chilling Bhutanese horror film centred on a family curse and terrifying supernatural events. As fear takes hold, dark secrets begin to surface, blurring the line between reality and the supernatural. Blending horror with cultural, emotional and romantic storylines, the film also delivers a meaningful message about mental health awareness. At the Bhutan National Film Awards 2026 in Punakha, Dobchu emerged as the biggest winner, receiving 16 nominations and winning nine awards: Best Film, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, Best Sound Design, Best Original Score, Best Make-up, Best Culture & Dzongkha Film, and Best Lyricist. Following its earlier release in Perth, Third Eye Cinema brought Dobchu back to the big screen for a special re-screening, giving more audiences the opportunity to experience this award-winning Bhutanese horror film.
